With fresh mango, orange juice, honey and lime, these mango popsicles are the perfect healthy summer treat.

When it comes to the summer, you can never go wrong with frozen/cold desserts loaded with fruit - from peaches and cream ice cream to strawberry ice cream to cherry chocolate chunk ice cream.

But the popsicle might be king. There is just something so summery about walking around with a tasty popsicle. And while orange creamsicles might be the most famous, these mango popsicles give them a run for their money.

    Why This Recipe Works

    • Few Ingredients - The recipe requires only a few basic ingredients. The simplicity ensures that the mango flavor remains the star of the popsicles, without any overwhelming or unnecessary additions.
    • Easy to Prepare - Making popsicles easy and doesn't require advanced culinary skills. Just blend the fresh mangoes with the other ingredients, pouring the mixture into popsicle molds, and freezing them until solid.
    • Versatile - It can be customized to suit your personal preferences. You can experiment with different variations by adding other fruits, such as strawberries or pineapple, for a twist. Additionally, you can adjust the sweetness level by adding more or less sugar, depending on your taste.
    • Healthy - By using fresh mangoes and controlling the amount of sugar added, you have control over the ingredients and can avoid artificial additives or excessive amounts of sweeteners.

    Ingredient Notes

    • Mangoes - Choose ripe and flavorful mangoes for the best results. Look for mangoes that are fragrant and slightly soft when gently squeezed. Different varieties of mangoes may vary in sweetness and texture, so feel free to experiment with different types to find your preferred flavor.
    • Honey - While mangoes are naturally sweet, you may want to add a sweetener to enhance the sweetness or balance the flavors. This recipe uses honey, but you can also use sugar, maple syrup or agave syrup. Adjust the amount of sweetener according to your taste preferences and the natural sweetness of the mangoes.
    • Orange Juice - You'll need a liquid to help blend the mangoes and create a smooth mixture. I like orange juice to add a fruity flavor, but water is a simple and neutral option. Coconut water or coconut milk can also add a tropical twist.
    • Lime - A splash of citrus adds a refreshing tang and balance the sweetness of the mangoes. Lemon juice is a good substitute.

    FAQs

Can I Use Frozen Mangoes Instead of Fresh?

Yes, you can use frozen mangoes. Thaw them before blending to ensure a smooth consistency. Frozen mangoes can be a convenient option, especially when fresh mangoes are not readily available.

Can I Add Other Fruit in Combination with the Mangos?

Absolutely! Mango pairs well with various fruits like strawberries, pineapple, and citrus fruits. Feel free to experiment with different fruit combinations to create unique flavor profiles.

My Popsicles are Difficult to Remove from the Molds. What Should I Do?

If you're having trouble removing the popsicles from the molds, try running the molds under warm water for a few seconds. This will help loosen the popsicles, making it easier to slide them out.

How Long Do Mango Popsicles Last in the Freezer?

They can be stored in the freezer for about 2 to 3 months. However, for the best taste and texture, it is recommended to consume them within the first month.

    Equipment

The equipment you use is important to how the popsicles turn out. What is needed is the following:

    • Food Processor/Blender - Make sure you have something large enough to puree the ingredients.
    • Popsicle Molds - There are a variety of molds out there, so pick your favorite one.

    Pro Tips/Recipe Notes

    • If using frozen mangoes, make sure they are thawed first.
    • Use freshly squeezed orange juice/lime juice instead of just buying some if possible. While store-bought will work fine, you'll notice the difference in taste.
    • Use a quality popsicle mold so you can make popsicles.
    • In order to easily remove the creamsicles from the molds, let them sit at room temperature for 5 minutes or run under some hot water until you can pull them out.
