If you grew up loving the original cream bars from Popsicle, then these four ingredient homemade orange creamsicles will make you feel like a kid again.

When it is a hot summer day, what is better than some ice cold dessert - from chocolate chip ice cream to strawberry ice cream to cookies and cream ice cream. But is there much better than a popsicle as you can just walk around while enjoying it?

Don't get me wrong, the classic orange creamsicle is tough to beat but there is so much satisfaction to be had from making something from scratch that's even better.

The fact that it only takes four ingredients to prepare doesn't hurt. Another bonus is you actually know what's going in these homemade creamsicles. The combination of the brightness from the orange and creaminess from the yogurt makes for a great combination.

If it's a hot summer day out, I wouldn't hesitate in making these orange creamsicles. And if you have kids, they'll be wanting more as soon as they're done. Hope you enjoy!

    Ingredient Notes

    • Oranges - you want to use fresh oranges for the juice as you get a more natural/intense flavor.
    • Honey - adds sweetness which offsets some of the acidity. You can also use sugar or maple syrup.
    • Yogurt - adds that creaminess you expect as well as some added fat. Greek yogurt, coconut milk or heavy cream can be substituted.
    • Vanilla extract - enhances the flavor of the orange creamsicles.

    FAQs

    What is a Creamsicle?

Creamsicles are technically trademarked by the Popsicle brand. Creamsicle's center is vanilla ice cream, which is covered by flavored ice like orange, raspberry, lime, grape, cherry and blueberry.

    Can I Replace the Yogurt?

Yes. One of the benefits of this recipe is the yogurt can be easily replaced by Greek yogurt, heavy cream, coconut milk or even vanilla ice cream.

It really is up to you, but just keep in mind that every single one will add a slightly different flavor to the orange creamsicle popsicles.

What Popsicle Mold Should I Use for these Orange Creamsicles?

So I'm a fan of the Zoku classic pop molds that are around $20, but you can find a ton of different options on Amazon. They all work the same way.

    How Long Will They Last?

Great thing about these orange creamsicles is you can keep them in the freezer for up to 3 months and they'll taste just like you made them that day.

    Pro Tips/Recipe Notes

    • Use a quality popsicle mold so you can make creamsicles.
    • Use freshly squeezed orange juice instead of just buying some if possible. While store-bought orange juice will work fine, you'll notice the difference in taste and plus there aren't added ingredients.
    • If you don't want to use honey, you can replace it with granulated sugar or even maple syrup but each will have a slightly different flavor.
    • If you want the orange creamsicle to be a little more creamy, just replace the yogurt with heavy cream.
    • In order to easily remove the creamsicles from the molds, let them sit at room temperature for 5 minutes or run under some hot water until you can pull them out.
