Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoon unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated Pecorino Romano cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh Italian parsley, chopped
  • 4 slices bread
  • 4 slices American cheese

Instructions

  • Heat large skillet over medium heat. Combine butter, garlic, Pecorino Romano and parsley in small bowl, stirring to combine.
  • Spread the softened garlic butter on one side of 4 slices of bread. Place 2 slices of cheese in between 2 slices of bread, with the butter on the outside.
  • Place the sandwiches in the skillet. Cook until golden brown on one side, about 3-4 minutes. Flip and cook until golden brown on the second side and cheese has melted, another 3-4 minutes. Cut sandwiches in half and serve.

Notes

  • As with any sandwich, bread is what makes a quality sandwich so make sure you use something you enjoy.
  • Since garlic is one of the main ingredients, use freshly minced garlic. Don't use the jarred stuff.
  • Don't skimp on the butter. Make sure you use all of the butter when spreading on the bread. It creates that crisp, buttery, golden exterior.
  • If you want extra gooey cheese, cover the sandwich while it cooks.
  • Added protein never hurts and some crispy bacon always pairs well.
