With Baileys, vodka, heavy cream and caramel syrup, this salted caramel martini is a great combination of sweet and salty. It is like dessert in a glass.
When it comes to martinis, I'm a big fan of dessert flavored ones - from a Godiva chocolate martini to a pumpkin martini to a gin espresso martini a chocolate peppermint martini to a gingerbread martini to a white chocolate martini.
I mean is there much better than satisfying a sweet tooth, but also enjoying a drink at the same time?
And that's where this salted caramel flavor comes into play. Who doesn't love the combination of salty and sweet.
You get the creaminess from the Baileys and cream, the sweetness from the caramel syrup and the saltiness from the rimmed glass of salt. It is one of those drinks that has you questioning if there is alcohol in it.

Ingredient Notes
- Irish cream - I always have Baileys but a store-brand works just as well. You could also make your own.
- Vodka - you want to use quality vodka like Grey Goose or Belvedere. This just is used to up the booze a little bit.
- Heavy cream - mellows out the martini but also adds creaminess. You can also use milk or half-and-half.
- Caramel syrup - I just use Hershey's caramel syrup, but you can use a salted caramel sauce if you want as well.
- Vanilla extract - adds a hint of vanilla flavor.
- Salt - added to the rim of the martini glass and where you get that salty flavor.
Variations
Like any cocktail, you can mix up some of the ingredients. Some variations include:
- If you like salted caramel apple, replace the vodka with an apple-flavored vodka.
- Try Rumchata in place of Baileys for a more rum/cinnamon forward flavor.
- If you are a fan of chocolate, swap Godiva chocolate liqueur for the Baileys.
Step-by-Step Photos
Add all of the martini ingredients to a cocktail shaker with some ice and shake for 20 seconds. Add some caramel syrup to a plate and dip the glass in it. Then dip the glass in a plate with sea salt.
Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with some caramel syrup if desired.
FAQs
No. I like it for its creaminess and feel like it pairs well with caramel sauce. Another liqueur to try is RumChata, which is a combination of rum, cream, cinnamon and vanilla.
No. I use Hershey's caramel syrup, but you can use salted caramel sauce. You could even try this homemade apple cider caramel sauce for a slight apple flavor.
I know not everyone has cocktail shakers. Just add your ingredients for the martini to a mug with some ice, screw the lid on tightly and start shaking.
Pro Tips/Recipe Notes
- Place the martini glass in the freezer for an hour so it keeps your martini chilled.
- You can substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or whole milk.
- If you want even more vanilla flavor, increase the vanilla extract to ½ tsp.

This was great. Made a couple "tweeks" with Bailey's Salted Caramel liqueur, Smirnoff Vanilla Vodka, and a splash of Kahlua vanilla. Left out the vanilla extract. WOW!! This is a keeper and will be on the main cocktail menu from now on!!!! Thank you!!
