With fresh peaches, vodka, triple sec and lemon juice, this peach martini is both refreshing and even more delicious than it looks.

When it comes to summer I'm all about cocktails using fresh fruit - from a watermelon crush to blueberry smash to a blackberry margarita.

But the one fruit that comes to top of mind during the summer is peaches. Here in Maryland, prime peach season is in July and August.

And to me there isn't much more classic than a martini. I don't know if it is the shape of the glass it is served in or what. Overall this cocktail is very simple with just a few ingredients. But the main flavor comes from fresh peaches. By pureeing them, you get concentrated flavor that kicks up this martini a notch.

Depending on the peach, you could have a more acidic/tart drink or a little sweeter. Either way, this peach martini is just waiting to be made.

    Ingredient Notes

    • Vodka - you want to use quality vodka like Grey Goose or Belvedere. You can't have a martini without it.
    • Peaches - you want to use a peach puree for this martini so take the time to blend some peaches in a blender.
    • Triple sec - an orange liquor that complements the peaches. Grand Marnier or Cointreau also work well.
    • Lemon - just kicks up the acid level which enhances the flavor of the peaches.

    FAQs

How Do I Know Peaches are Ripe?

There are a few ways to tell that a peach is ripe. The best way is if you see shriveled skin around the stem, that means it is ripe. The next best way is by giving a peach a gentle, yet firm squeeze with your fingers. If there’s some give, it means the fruit is almost ripe. Be careful not to bruise though.

How Many Peaches Do I Need?

You can typically get 2 oz of peach puree from 1 peach but I like to use 2 peaches just to be safe.

    Can I Use Frozen Peaches?

If you don't have fresh peaches, frozen peaches will work just fine.

How Do I Make a Martini without a Cocktail Shaker?

I know not everyone has cocktail shakers. Just add your ingredients for the peach martini to a mug with some ice, screw the lid on tightly and start shaking.

    Types of Peaches

There are 4 main types of peaches and each will bring a slightly different flavor to this peach martini.

    • Yellow Peaches - the most common peach that has a high acidity level with some tartness.
    • White Peaches - has a slightly lower acidity level, which makes them sweeter.
    • Donut Peaches - looks like a donut, hence the name. They have a sweet, white flesh.
    • Nectarines - yes they are actually peaches but have a smooth skin. They have a sweet, honey-like flavor.

    Pro Tips/Recipe Notes

    • Place the martini glass in the freezer for an hour so it keeps your martini chilled.
    • Freshly pureed peaches makes all the difference.
    • If you want even more peach flavor, use peach vodka.
    • Take the time to freshly squeeze lemon juice. Store-bought just isn't the same.
